Whittaker Awards

The NUI Maynooth Whittaker Awards

This competition is one of NUIM’s longest running annual events and is open to any and all students affiliated with the university. Young scientists can investigate any area of biology they find interesting, for a chance to win hundreds of euro. The Whittaker Awards is about spreading an interest in science, and encouraging students to investigate topics which may not be related to their course. The competition for 2012 will be held on the 7th of March.

The Competition

The contestants must present a 5-10 minute talk on a biology-related topic, and be prepared to answer questions from a panel of judges. Presentations are judged not only on content, but on clarity of communication. Students from all years are encouraged to enter.

First Place: Cash Prize, a place on our perpetual shield, and a commemorative award.

Second and Third Place: Cash prize, and a commemorative award
